Welcome to Garfield Park

Located at 2505 Conservatory Drive, Indianapolis, IN 46203
On the south side of Indianapolis, with 3 park entrances: 2600 block of Shelby Street, Southern Avenue and Raymond St., and at the intersection of East St and Pleasant Run Parkway

For more than 125 years, Garfield Park has been a place to relax, wander and enjoy family. Since its beginning on the city’s south side in 1873, the Park has served as a community center, bringing families together for picnics, swimming, concerts, sports activities and more. As the oldest city park in Indianapolis, Garfield Park continues to stand as a lasting testimony to the importance of beauty, culture, and community for visitors and residents alike.

Garfield Park has many unique and inviting features. Some of those features--such as the Sunken Garden, the Conservatory, the MacAllister Center for Performing Arts, and the new Garfield Park Arts Center—draw visitors from all over the state. It’s not unusual to encounter people from many different places as you walk through the Sunken Garden or prepare for an open-air concert in the MacAllister center.

Although it is a regional park, Garfield Park continues to be as much a part of the community as the community is a part of Garfield Park. Area adults, children, joggers, skaters, bicyclists and dogs with their owners enjoy the park year-round. The park offers families and individuals many opportunities for creating memories. Picnics, baseball games, soccer, kite flying, concerts, evening walks, fountain displays, trips through the Conservatory, splashing in the Aquatic Center, viewing and creating art and music at the Arts Center or basketball in the Burrello Recreation Center all await fun-seeking families who want to come and enjoy Garfield Park.
